1. In your opinion, how has the European supply chain management landscape evolved over the years?

- The customer demands have increased and for the right reasons. Shorter response times, greater flexibility and increased digitalized interaction are some key areas where demands have become higher Overall, I think customers are becoming increasingly informed and skilled within the area of logistics with the help of technology. This puts higher demands on the parties in the value chain to collaborate more diligently and professionally. The challenges between demand and supply on truck driver side has increased and will most likely continue to worsen.

2. What according to you are some of the challenges plaguing the supply chain management space and how can they be effectively mitigated?

- Challenges plaguing the supply chain management space are managing volatility, diversification, in-balances, shorter lead-times, greater flexibility and in parallel meeting lower prices. This puts significant demands on the entire value chain and puts a greater need for the parties to increase collaboration and to a greater degree than in the past, understand each others’ supply chains and from that add mutual insight. It requires to a degree a different breed of people.

3. Which are a few technological trends influencing the supply chain management space today? Take us through some of the best practices businesses should adopt today to steer ahead of competitors?

- There is a lot of talk around platform technologies and very much so from an order and tracking standpoint. This will come and at an increasing pace which will make the prices and process more transparent. But I view the main thing for the “space” today is to master analytics, with that I mean the enormous amounts of data that we all have around our business, our customers’ business and our suppliers’ business. To truly consolidate, analyze and leverage on that data to deliver greater value and more efficiency will be the key area for those who aspire to master tomorrow.

4. Do you have any suggestions for industry veterans or budding entrepreneurs from the supply chain management landscape?

- Make sure you hire people who are smarter than you are and instill a culture where your people’s full potential is coming out. And always stay curious and look for new things to learn and improve. It is not what brought us to a certain position that will make us keep it.
